Celebrate 20 Years of Theme Party Tonight!
Hi guys!
Yes, it was 20 years ago today, in 1986, that Theme Party first went out over the Internet and history was made. Sure, we've changed so much since then, and yes, we admit that A) there was no Internet in 1986, and B) the eldest member of the Theme Party crew was only 12, but those are mere technicalities. Thanks to the work of the fine people at CERN and their magnificent Large Hadron Collider, we're fairly certain there are at least 14 parallel dimensions in which, we believe, the Internet was invented sometime during the 1780s and Theme Party is as venerable an institution as the song Notorious which, by sheer coincidence, is also celebrating its 20th anniversary tonight.
So what the hell will we be doing to "celebrate" our own dubious milestone? Simple - we'll be playing plenty of music from the year we are now claiming to have first webcast, as well as some more recent material from the more factual, "reality-based" period of Theme Party's existence. We'll also probably play Notorious, and a bunch of songs about Anniversaries, just because we're feeling cheeky.
To listen, just head over to our Myspace profile , or to Kill Radio , and click the handy listen buttons. While you're there, you can IM us via AIM - our ID is themepartyradio.
Also, while you're over at our myspace page you might notice that we've regularly update our calender with tons of great events put on by our close personal friends. There's plenty for you to do. Oh, and you'll also be able to keep informed about upcoming episodes of Theme Party and future themes while you're at it. It's really quite wonderful. For you.
Oh, and lest we forget: We know you're not always able to listen to Theme party on Friday nights, and because we understand we record every episode for later consumption. NO QUALITY CONTROL
"Hear, Here" is Killradio.org's only all submissions show. Recently awarded the Kaiser Medal for Excellence in Submissions-Only internet radio shows that webcast adjacent to Koreatown. Bands from all over the globe have been submitting us their music; we in kind, do what we're told and play it accordingly. Hear it first, as are we every MONDAY from 12pm to 2pm Pacific Time. continue to play all of the usual odd musics: punk
rock, country, punjabi disco, novelty records,
traditional folk, rod mckuen, yoko ono, cover tunes of
peter gabriel by don ho, heino, minutemen, calexico,
pere ubu, rock steady and well, you name it.
rev. mo's daughter mavis will pop by from time to
time, or there might be a theme show once in a while,
such as: asian punk, or the recently disasterous
'german spring' show, which actually lost me
listeners...
so tune in, turn on and nod off.

Let's face it, the only reason you'd listen to the radio or the
internet for music is to hear dj's who have made mixing an art form --
and who play things that drive you crazy and make you wanna change the
world.
Well, that's The Chill Room. Dj Bennett does things with radio that you've never heard before. And he plays music you've only dreamed about. The collages are better, more dangerous, more psychedelic, more psychological, more nuanced than ever.
Recent specials have been devoted to Mark E Smith and The Fall, rare Dylan Basement Tapes material, Nurse With Wound live. Upcoming specials include all Sun Ra and all Merzbow shows.

Radio show to unwrinkle the saddle we'll be back in

Theme Party Mix Tape TONIGHT! Plus, download our archives for fun and enjoyment!

Tonight, Theme Party is back with all new hi-jinks and fun for you. Nothing too special, just some excellent music and conversation for 2 hours or so. Last week, DJ Funemployment and the Eligible Ross Lincoln had so much fun, we're repeating the theme and form 9 to 11 PM PST, we're bringing you a second week of the Theme Party Mix Tape!
Like last time, we'll be playing a ton of new and old music we adore, talking about this and that, and drinking cheap wine in the process.
